Living in Minnesota means living very close to great living history sites, particularly those relating to one of the most loved pioneers of all time- Laura Ingalls Wilder. Over the past year, we have read more books on Laura Ingalls than I knew existed. Our Minnesota home was not too far from the Big Woods so before heading out of the state, we headed out of the state for a trip to the museum & wayside in Pepin, Wisconsin- birthplace of Laura Ingalls. The cabin on the site is not an original, but the replica is enjoyable to see and there is a beautiful picnic area.
My favorite part was the copy of a teacher's attendance record that included Laura Ingalls- 4 and Mary Ingalls- 6.
The boys liked sneaking up to the loft in the cabin with Daddy's help, when Mommy wasn't looking!
The museum is actually several miles away from the wayside and had lots of great examples of period tools and household goods.

Sooo cool! I showed my kids your blog since we are currently making our way through the little house series for this school year. I bought the cookbook and the craftbook to go along with our reading. Should be a lotta fun for us all.
